How to be good at Mortal Kombat XL

Hey everyone.

So, as you know, having redeveloped my interests in gaming and playing computer games, there is one game in particular that I have thoroughly enjoyed playing over the last six weeks. Mortal Kombat X which later got updated to Mortal Kombat XL.

I enjoy playing it because, I love fighting games and I really like the characters in it. They're all really interesting characters. Some are from the original Mortal Kombat games which I know not very much about and some characters are celebrity guest characters added into the game because of their deadly nature such as Jason Voorhees from the Friday the 13th films, Leatherface from Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Alien from the Alien films.

Anyway since playing it, I thought I'd give you some tips on how to be good at playing the game.

1. Play as all the characters at least once.
This way, you'll get to know which character you are strong as playing as, and which ones you are not. Over time, they'll be characters you'll like more than others and so you'll be more preferable to play as them, than say others which your not that keen on.

2. Every Character in the game is deadly.
It's true. All the characters can be very dangerous. You just need be aware of their strengths. This comes from lots and lots of practise. There is a training session available in the game to try out characters strengths. I suggest you try this, as it will give you the opportunity to test out special attacks, move combinations and basic punches and ticks which will prove useful to you when you're fighting an opponent online. As well as that, Tower challenges are normally a good way to test each characters strengths by defeating each opponent and moving higher up the tower, you'll get the idea once you play.

3. Attack, Attack, Attack!
Watching people play this game online on YouTube, there is one thing I have noticed. Good players, don't giver their opponent much chance to attack their character. They are dicks. And they will keep hitting you and attacking you and not giving you much of a chance to attack them. You must apply this same mode of thinking. Pick a character you're really strong playing as, and use that characters strengths to attack, attack, attack your opponent and not give them much of a chance to hit you. It's good to get your opponent in a corner, that way, they've got nowhere to go and you can carry out your beating of them.

4. FINSIH THEM! Fatality and Brutality.
These are useful to pick up as they earn you more points in the game, and its a fun, gruesome, violent way to end the fight and defeat your opposition. If you press the options button on your controller whilst playing the game, a menu will come up, telling you your characters name and a few basic move combinations to use, there's an option called "Move List" press that and it will give you a list of moves from basics to finishes. Go to the option that says finishing moves and you'll get some clear, basic instructions on how to do either a brutality or a fatality. Fatalities are easier to do than Brutalities. Brutalities come from skill and just trying things out, but once you know how to do them, then it becomes so easy and straightforward. Or your other option is to just google "Mortal Kombat XL Brutalities" or "Mortal Kombat XL Fatalities" and they should provide you with a list of instructions for each character about the finish you wish to try and use.

5. Watch and learn and try stuff out!
Most importantly above anything else, watch how other players play, learn from what they do and try to copy them or ask them what they do and just try stuff out for yourself. The only way to get really good is by trying stuff out and seeing what happens. If you lose a fight, you can win another and learn from your mistakes.

Hope that these five simple steps were useful to you and help you like they help me in playing this game.

Thanks.
