CYBERMEN
IN SPACE
They're back! These brutal bad boys are out to destroy, yet again. Only this time, they're more chilling than ever. Enter the Cybermen!
Jaime Harrison and I got together one evening, we both sat down in Jaime's living room and had a chat over a glass of cider and a beer about what sort of stories that we would both like to do for the next series of audio adventures.
After much-debated discussion, we decided between us that we would like to have five returning monsters in the series as well as coming up with our own ideas and having our own originality in our stories. It came down to a game of lucky dip, because we decided the best and most fair way to decide which monsters we'd bring back was to write down all the monsters and villains that have been in Doctor Who that we could think of on tiny bits of paper and shuffling them all up and just pulling them out of a hat and the ones that were picked were, Daleks, Cybermen, The Krynoids, and Sontarans.
There was a Cyberman story in series one, which was set on a space station on the moon and I think was my take on "The Moonbase" and as much as I do enjoy that story and liked it, I wanted to bring the Cybermen back to earth, and we've come up with something which I think is a clever plot storyline which features Cybermen in their early stages before developing into their new and advanced stages that they later become later in the story.
With the story being set in the future, the Cybermen have new technology on their hands and are able to advance and develop themselves through new and advanced technology and we're possibly going to incorporate the Cybermen in a new way.
Cybermen are a bit like vampires in a sense that unlike the Daleks who want to take over the universe, they want to upgrade the population and make people become Cybermen and anyone incompatible will be destroyed.
They are the second most popular monster in Doctor Who history and a personal favourite, and we are presenting a new form of Cyberman in this story which is exciting, (Spoiler Alert), it's been a bit of a challenge, but the Cybermen are stepping out of the fog and into your nightmares, prepare to be eliminated!
