New Year's Eve - Happy New Year!

New Year's Eve. It's time to look back on what a year 2017 has been. I hope that your year was enjoyable and if it wasn't then we can always start again and look forward to what the future may bring.

Overall I think this year has gone quick, too quick by looks of things. It seems that life is starting to feel that much faster now, which is a bit scary but, live well, work hard, and you'll go far.

I think it's time to look back on 2017 and some of my highlights, though there have not been many, I can perhaps name a few which stand out amongst the others.

I turned 21 in January of 2017. That was great, I was spoilt rotten by family and friends, got lots of lovely birthday messages and nice presents, and a big party which was amazing.

Rope, which you may know, that had an amazing effect on me, the whole experience was just so joyous and memorable and funny, we all had such a laugh on that show, I developed and mastered new skills which I didn't even know I had, I worked hard and just loved working on that show.

Hairspray and Wizard of Oz, two of the best shows that I could have been apart of, not only were they both such fun to do, but I've learnt so many new things from all the people I've met on both of those shows, and just enjoyed being on those productions whilst they lasted and it just reminds me so much why I love doing what I do.

I graduated from University with a 2.1 and had a night out with my friends to celebrate, that was very special.

I left my job that I had since starting university in 2014, I left there after having worked there for three years and moved on to a new full time job.

I met John Barrowman, John Cleese, Matt Lucas and Jenny Ryan "The Vixen" from the chase, and very nearly met David Tennant, I was so close to him at the stage door at the Wyndams Theatre when I went to see him in Don Juan in Soho.

I did my first charity challenge, I cycled from London to Southend with my dad on behalf of the national autisitic society which was amazing, we raised well over £250 which was fantastic.

I made new friends. Three of the greatest new friends, all of which are amazing people and have helped me and changed me a lot throughout this year, and they've all made me happy in ways I never thought I could feel, which is an incredible feeling.

We had a good-ish year of Doctor Who and said goodbye to Peter Capaldi as much as we didn't want to and said Hello to Jodie Whitaker, the first female doctor.

I have so much to be thankful to 2017 for, true, I have had my ups and downs over this year as any normal person would have done, but I have had a good year and look forward to the future to have many more good years like this one, you never know what's round the corner.

I hope that whatever you're doing tonight, you're surrouned my friends, smiles and cuddles.

All the best to 2018!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Doctor Who Review: Twice Upon a Time

DOCTOR WHO REVIEW
TWICE UPON A TIME

Two Doctors, both on the brink of regeneration and a great crisis looms, testimony is coming but will the doctor face his fate or suffer at the hands of it?

It had been announced in January 2017 that Peter Capaldi was going to be leaving Doctor Who, which shocked and upset most fans of the show, that this wonderful man and great Doctor was bowing out of the successful sci-fi television series.  Series Ten was Peter  Capaldi's best series yet in terms of performance, the scripts were better than last series and the Steven Moffat and the production team had begun to nail Capaldi's character because Capaldi's character's journey had been a bit hot and cold over the last three years. In series eight he was too moody and dark and people wanted to see more humour, in series nine the writers over pitched the comedy and Capaldi was a bit too silly in his acting, it's really hard to get into the soft spot of being both enthusiastically eccentric and witty but also serious at the same time when you need to be. And I did feel in series ten they were beginning to nail Capaldi's character and you could see it in his performance that he was playing the doctor he wanted to be, it's a shame it all came a bit too late, we should have seen the kind of material we got in series ten when Capaldi took over from Matt Smith at the start.

I think the way Steven Moffat wanted to write Peter Capaldi out was to do the same that he did with Matt Smith, which was to give him the best possible exit that he could give him, and though Matt Smith's was set up to be very self-sacrificial and epic, this felt like a much more quieter and suttle exit, quite simple in terms of story telling.

This came across to me as a kind of bitter sweet end type of story, because for some fans, "Twice Upon a Time" is where Doctor Who ends for them. Some people just do not want a woman playing the doctor and as a result, will stop watching. I'm sure those reasons are valid to them and everyone is entitled to an opinion, but to me, it doesn't matter who is playing the part, as long the scripts are good and the content is good, it's still the same show it always was, if not better. Doctor Who is a show of change and it can be anything and everything you can imagine it to be, it's one of the reasons why I love it so much.

The first doctor returns as played by David Bradley, as he once played the part before in the 2013 documentary "An Adventure in Space and Time" playing William Hartnell, the actor playing the first doctor, so he was in effect playing William Hartnell playing the first doctor. My problem with Bradley coming back to Doctor Who is, he was so good in "An Adventure in Space" and he was playing William Hartnell in that, so all I see is him being the first doctor being William Hartnell, it takes away from the whole magic of this being a show of limited worlds and outer galaxies and planets and instead reminds us all that this is just a tv show.

I did like the interlink between the Tenth Planet into this story at the start, it allowed viewers who have never seen that story before to get an insight into the first doctor's era and to also allow people to take an interest in the classic series.

The story takes place at the south pole where the Tenth Planet takes place in between the aftermath of the events at the end of the tenth planet and the first doctor's regeneration. The main problem we face is that there are two doctors in the same time zone, both of which refuse to regenerate, so they have a choice, they can either regenerate and go on or they die as they are, and if the doctor doesn't change then that would mean the future that we know doesn't happen, which is why it's important and highlighted the seriousness of why he should do it, with the Twelfth Doctor, I'm not entirely sure as to why he didn't want to change, probably because he was scared, or he was just stubborn, or he felt that everything must come to an end, I've got this far, maybe I should pack it in and stop changing? I don't know the reason, into the mix is world war one British captain, so there's the mystery as to how and why he's there, which I thought was explained nicely and worked well within the context of the story.

As for the story as a story, I kind of felt it was too simple and needed more sense of adventure and thrill, I'm almost left confused as to how it ended, I got all the bits with testimony and how that worked into the story, Bill didn't really need to be in it, but I suppose it was done in a good enough way to have her back for those who did want to see her, I just felt the story was a bit too simple, it was a bit too safe, it was mainly about the Twelfth doctor coming to terms with his fate and how in hinds sight it wasn't all such a terrible thing and as such not so bad, as portrayed in the doctor's final speech which I thought was well excuted by Capaldi it was so terribly sad to see him go, I'm gutted that the Twelfth doctor is gone, didn't really like the Thirteenth doctor's introduction but I suppose new beginnings will arise when the series resumes next year.

But what do I think of Twice Upon a Time? Well I thought overall it was good, the story telling was a bit bland and the humour was pushed a bit too much, it's the Christmas episode, so we want to make you laugh, but the jokes were pushed a bit too much in that direction that I just wasn't laughing, especially from the Twelfth Doctor, anecdotes and, silliness I felt were not really necessary. It all did seem a little silly that not even the matrix on Gallifrey, the greatest archive in the universe has no record of testimony, I did enjoy the ending though in the world war one battlefield, that had a nice sentimental touch to it and linked in with Christmas very well, there just didn't seem to be a great test for the Twelfth Doctor to face, other than he should come to terms with the fact that he should regenerate and face fate.

I'm going to give this a 6/10. Not much in it for me.

Q&A session - 23rd December

Hello everyone.

I've had a few questions come in about a few projects I'm doing and I thought I might address those for you.

The first question concerns the Doctor Who Audio special which I've got coming out in December when is that getting released, we haven't had a date set for that - The reason there has been no date yet is because I don't want to set a date and have a target set to meet and then be too busy to not meet that target and have people be disappointed that the episode wasn't out on the day that I said it would be. I'm working on recording the episode soon to have editing start the day after recording so that it can be uploaded as soon as possible. It will be up sometime next week, just not sure what day.

The second thing was about The Chase. I know I said I wasn't doing anymore and now I am so it gets a bit confusing, but all you need to know is, I am doing more, The Chase is back on for the moment.

Am I doing a Christmas show? - Yes, I am, but this year there is only one chaser doing it. And the identity of that chaser will be revealed in the episode when it comes out.

Thirdly was about Eggheads if I was still planning on carrying on with that as well as The Chase and there are still plans to do more Eggheads in the future.

Batman videos, I know I said I would do more Batman, but just haven't had the time, same goes with Doctor Who Action Figure videos, I have been so busy this year I've had no time to even think about coming up with story concepts. It's been mad. But I'd like to think it's the end and maybe do more next year if the right idea for the right story comes along.

Doctor Who - The Audio Adventures : Time After Time

It's Christmas Time... in British Summer!

The Doctor decides to take Pip home. Only to discover that her hometown of Graine Park is covered with ice and snow in the middle of August. The town is deserted apart from a few residents and a mysterious Lord Ravensworth, who is not all that he seems.

As well as that, a time portal is storming its way into our world which could threaten the entire multiverse. Why is the Doctor's old enemy the master involved and why is he working with the Daleks?

What are the Daleks planning? are they behind the weird change in the weather or is this all part of one big conspiracy to lure the Doctor into one big trap?!

All will be revealed this December in "Time After Time".

Gameplay videos - Back in January

GAMEPLAY VIDEOS WILL RETURN IN THE NEW YEAR ON TUESDAY 9th JANUARY!

Today marked the uploads of my last two let's play gameplay videos for this year.

Mortal Kombat XL Season 4 and Injustice 2 Season 2 let's play gameplay videos came to an end. But all is not over. Mortal Kombat and Injustice 2 will both be back again next year when the series resumes in January.

And we've got so much stuff to look forward to, especially for Injustice 2 because we have Enchantress and the Ninja Turtles coming out as part of Fighter Pack Three so it'll be very interesting to see how they both work into the game, also rumours speculating about the possibility of a fighter pack four? who knows, I've learnt with rumours now, not to go around beliving anything you hear or read, not unless there is a substantial source to back that rumour up.

For the moment, I'm lead to belive there is still lots in store to look forward to with Injustice 2, however in the new year I am hoping to get back into playing Injustice : Gods Among Us and hopefully get back into Assassin's Creed as I know I've been on a break from that for quite a while and should think about getting ahead with that and recording some videos for that too. Let's see what happens.

Anyway, that's all until next year.

Might possibly expect some Mortal Kombat and Injustice 2 stuff in my advent calendar in the last remaining days leading up to Christmas, but apart from that gameplay videos and let's play videos are done.

Thank you so much for all the support you've shown throughout. It means a lot and I'm glad you enjoy watching my videos just as much as I enjoy making them, the time doesn't go to waste.

Be sure to put in any suggestions you might have for me to make my videos better or ways to improve, I have thought of introducing live gameplay videos in the future once I get my web cam set up.

I'll be sure to keep you updated.

Thank you and Merry Christmas!

The Twits

As a special treat, I thought I might upload an audiobook of one of my favourite Roald Dahl stories read by one of my favourite people, Simon Callow.

The Twits is a story of two halves for the first part of the story it introduces us to Mr and Mrs Twit. The Twits are a fowl, ugly, horrible couple who play nasty tricks on each other and for the second half, it's about super glue, birds and, monkeys. That basically sums The Twits up in a nutshell if I were to describe it to anyone.

It's not a very long story at all, it's a short and simple story which is actually enormous fun, and the story as a story is very funny.

The twits themselves both come across as very unpleasant people which you like to see unpleasant things happen to them. It's not looked upon as being a highly regarded story by most fans of Dahl's work, but I put The Twits in my top five stories. It's in my opinion, the under dog of Dahl's work which he wrote for children. I've been listening to the audiobook recently and have been thinking, this is actually a very good story, one of which I really enjoy and get a lot of messages out of. Like the importance of hygiene, politeness and self confidence, and how to look after oneself.

So yeah, that basically sums it up. I'll be back tomorrow with another update.

INJUSTICE 2 THIS WEEK: Enemies of Superman - Shattered Alliances!

INJUSTICE 2: THIS WEEK - ENEMIES OF THE SUPERMAN
BRAINIAC'S INVASION

  • WEDNESDAY 6th DECEMBER . THURSDAY 7th DECEMBER . FRIDAY 8th DECEMBER

Hey everyone.

This is just another Injustice 2 update post and today, I'm going to be explaining another "enemies" trilogy that's on this week with Injustice 2 videos.

Superman is arguably the best character in the whole of Injustice 2, he's certainly one of the strongest characters in terms of moves and collateral damage he can do on an opponent if you use him in the right way.

So, this week there are going three videos where I will be facing three opponents at a much higher level of difficulty to what I am used to playing on a normal Injustice 2 video, it will raise the bar a bit and test me much more than what I am used to being up against.

It will be in three parts and in each part, Superman will face a different opponent.

The first will be Bizarro - on Wednesday 6th December.

The second will be Brainiac - on Thursday 7th December.

and the final opponent will be Darkseid - on Friday 8th December.

Stay tuned for all three videos coming up this week.

Happy December!

The countdown to Christmas has well and truly begun. Goodbye November, Hello December!

There is only one more month left to go until the end of 2017. It's crazy to think how quickly this year has gone, the pace of life is just way too fast nowadays, but what a fantastic year it's been for me and I could not be more lucky or blessed with the opportunities that have presented themselves to me. Always count your blessings.

Now, the most wonderful time of the year has come again with lots of chocolate, mince pies, cheesy tunes and not forgetting the Christmas jumpers to get us all into the festive mood. I love Christmas and all the festivities that come with it. There's just such warm glow to Christmas that you don't get with any other holiday, just a true sense of real togetherness and happiness and love that combine so many other fun and contributing factors to make Christmas what it is, and your Christmas can be as wonderfully unique as you believe it deserves to be.

Have a wonderful December. Santa's on his way!

Happy December everybody!
