2016 - A review of the year!

HAPPY NEW YEAR

Hello Everyone.

So as we come to the end of 2016, I've had a very good year. Have lots to be positive about and lots to be thankful for.

Thought I might start off this review of the year by naming things which has happened to me each month of the year. So here goes:

January - I turned 20, saw Biggins in Aladdin at the Nottingham Theatre Royal, and worked on Eclipsed in the studio for the majority of the month whilst I was off Uni for twenty days.

February - Coasting, not much happened.

March - Handed in my Final Essay for Year 2, Went to see Matthew Perry's new play "The End of Longing" in London, Auditioned and got cast in two excellent shows, Mum's Birthday Bash!

April - Charlotte's Birthday, Filmed our final film for Year 2, I finished my second year at Uni, rehearsals for my two shows started, Cousin Katharine's graduation.

May - went to see The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time in London's West End, Went to go and watch QI being filmed in London with my Dad, Met up with my friend Janice in Brighton, Twelfth Night with an all female cast.

June - Went to Swindon Film and Comic Con and met Mark Labbett and Shaun Wallace from The Chase, did my first ever interview on live radio, voted in the EU referendum, The show run of Jumpers for Goalposts.

July - Bury family meet up, Oliver show! 7th - 9th July, Auditioned for Peter Pan in Radlett, The Chase in London - Part One, went to visit Madame Tussauds on a day out, London Film and Comic Con 2016, got back into gaming for the first time in years, Sophie's Birthday!

August - Summer break, got cast in Peter Pan : The Musical!, met up with my friend Gavin, had lunch with Charlotte, Charlotte and Sean's engagement party, went up to Bournemouth to see family and the red arrows display, Dad's Birthday, Granny Bury's Birthday.

September - The Browning Version/ Black Comedy, The Chase in London Part Two!, Ashbridge for Alasdair's send off, returned to Uni for the final year.

October - Charlotte's Halloween Party!

November - Peter Pan : The Musical 17th - 19th November and Abigail's Party.

December - Started working on Rope, The run-up to Christmas, Panto: Jack and the Beanstalk in Portsmouth, got to meet Anne Hegerty from The Chase! - She is my idol and one of the reasons why I'm inspired to want to be a good quizzer, Panto: Cinderella at the London Palladium with Gavin and Euan - one of the best nights out ever and the best panto I've seen EVER! (So Far!), Been in a film with Samantha Bond, BSC Meet up in London, Spending Christmas with the family, New Years.

So all in all, with the unfortunate tragedies that have happened and so many famous faces that we have lost including:  David Bowie, Alan Rickman, Terry Wogan, Ronnie Corbett, Prince, George Michael and Carrie Fisher we can still look forward to the future with hope.

I've been lucky, I have had a very fortuitous and happy year. I've done lots as the time has gone by and I wouldn't change any of it. There maybe a few things I would change, but there are lots of things I wouldn't change and are happy with.

I just want to say, hope your year was enjoyable, it was good and if it wasn't we can always start again and start fresh, so I hope whatever you're doing tonight you have a wonderful time, surrounded by friends, surrounded by cuddles and smiles, and you have a lovely time. Here's to 2017. Happy New Year!

DOCTOR WHO : THE AUDIO ADVENTURES 2017

Doctor Who Audio Adventures are back in the sping of 2017 I've decided to move it to Saturdays as that seems to be the better slot to fit things in, and I've got nothing else to fill the gap with there being no new Doctor Who to upload until April, which by that time, hopefully, this series would have finished.

Twelve episodes confirmed for the new series, which is comfortable. I'm very happy with the diversity and range of different stories we got coming in this year and I'm very excited to get this series underway.

What to expect?

Lots of new monsters and some old ones as well coming back, we got Daleks, Sontarans, and Ice Warriors as well as demon monks, soul stealing ghouls and robots to say the least. lots of great prospects in store for the series which will excite the viewers with what I hope to be clever, passionate and imaginative storytelling.

Some new writers coming in, some of which have messaged me and asked to have a go at writing stories. Which is great. I always welcome new writers, some of which are females. My friend Katharine who is writing episode eight is a student, hoping to be a journalist and also loves writing her own short science fiction stories. She's not a Doctor Who fan, but she likes science fiction. So new writers, always welcome just get in touch and we can have a chat.

Expect the doctor to get a lot darker, as the series goes on the events that occur will shape him into kind of person I want him to become for the next series after this one. He's darker and more mysterious, the kind of feel I'm going for is something along the lines of the early Hartnell days and to make the doctor quite and unlikable and less caring character. So lots of good to stuff to come and really looking forward it.

COMING In 2017... More Gaming Videos including Assassin's Creed and Crash Bandicoot

As you know, I do gameplay videos playing Mortal Kombat XL, Now I'm starting to break away from that and think of doing some gameplay videos and I think whatever games would I be interested in playing.

I thought of Assassin's Creed. That's a popular one. I've got the Ezio collection for Christmas which is like a trilogy of stories to complete. I've started playing it today just to see what its like and I have to say I got a few things done in that game and I am really enjoying it and wish to continue playing it.

I did start playing Batman Arkham Asylum but that has proven to be a difficult game. It's very hard to complete and I'm stuck on a task in it at the moment and stopped playing it for a while, but do intend to come back to it because I've got Arkham Knight for Christmas so I've got the full set now of Ayslum, Arkham City and Arkham Knight. So do intend to get back into that so I have a go at all three.

As well as that, an old childhood friend of mine Crash Bandicoot is getting a reboot. Crash Bandicoot 1,2 and 3 are all getting re mastered for the PS4. I am extremely excited about this for one I love Crash Bandicoot, I love the games and they are such good fun to play so I'll enjoy doing gameplay videos of that. All three games are all coming out together in one set. No release date has been revealed but I'm hearing late February, but that has yet to be confirmed.

So yes, at least three new gameplay videos coming up at some point in 2017, as well as the Mortal Kombat videos. I will continue to do those, with the new season starting on the 9th of January.

COMING SOON on DOCTOR WHO : The Ice Warriors!

IN 2017... THE ICE WARRIORS ARE COMING

The inhabitants of Colony 9 are about to make a most incredible discovery. A lost scavenger group of Ice Warriors. Natives of the planet Mars. A race of cold-blooded reptiles inside highly sophisticated space armor.

This was always the plan to bring the Ice Warriors into my audio adventures at some point.
There didn't seem to be a better opportunity to put them in quite frankly. I love the first Ice Warrior story so much, that I wanted to do something which was very similar to the roots of that.

The Ice Warriors themselves have always been one of my favourite monsters. I favour them over many others and love the way they move, speak, look etc. The concept behind them is compelling, which was challenging for the designers who designed them because they had to come up with a new monster that at the time they hoped would be able to match the popularity of the Daleks and the cybermen. I think what makes successful monsters work is the effective notion of just wanting to look further and wanting more out of it, something which captivates the imagination, something that causes great threat, has certain sounds or mannerisms which stick out in the mind, has something which people will remember about it. If someone was to come up and ask me who are the five best doctor who monsters I would say : The Daleks, The Cybermen, The Ice Warriors, The Sontarans and The Weeping Angels. Simply because they tick all the boxes and have all the things I have just mentioned.

The Ice Warriors are back, and they mean business in the story I got coming up. So stay tuned.

DOCTOR WHO Review : The Return of Doctor Mysterio

Doctor Who Review
The Return of Doctor Mysterio
2016 Christmas Special

Warning: This review contains spoilers.

Merry Christmas everyone! I hope you all made rather Merry yesterday and that you had lots of nice food and drink. Did you watch any good TV? I didn't. I missed the Doctor Who Christmas special when it was broadcast, I've just watched it this morning.

So, after a year of no Doctor Who, we get this... "The Return of Doctor Mysterio" from what the description says on the BBC Iplayer it's "an epic New York adventure, the Doctor and Nardole link up with a reporter and a masked superhero. Can the Doctor save Manhattan from aliens?" So it's a story which is set in new york and has a superhero in it as well as an invasion of earth subplot added into it.

I think the thing with where Steven Moffatt was going with idea was that he wanted to do a Christmas special which wasn't heavily Christmas themed, there are a few Christmas references to this but not many. And that at Christmas time, there's always a superhero movie on, which is true. I think maybe even last Christmas The Avengers was on. Moffatt has always loved Superheros and he wanted to combine two of his favourite things by putting a superhero in Doctor Who.

Superheroes in Doctor Who...  I'm not sure how comfortable I feel about that. And there were lots of links with The Ghost and Superman. The Ghost is a mysterious vigilante who is like Superman with the fact that he looks pretty ordinary and has the same powers as Superman, and Lucy is basically Lois Lane with the fact that she's a reporter.

I didn't care much for the story, partly due to a massive chunk of it was ruined for me by an interview Steven Moffatt gave to the Radio Times, which basically told me the Ghost is a child which the doctor helps and gives him super powers. I would have rather that had been told to me through the story telling.

As a story there didn't really seem that much to go on to be perfectly honest, I'll start off with the bits I did actually like about it first, I liked all the stuff with the ghost in the fact that I liked his outfit, how he moved and how he interacted with The Doctor and stuff like that. The cinematography was good too. I liked Peter Capaldi's performance as the Doctor, I liked how the episode started with it looking like a comic book and then the camera widens into a wide shot of New York, and certain establishing shots were good.

That was the stuff I liked, everything else I didn't like. I didn't like Lucy. I don't think there was much in her as a character, Nardole was annoying and I hated his little speech he gave at the end and how he'll be there to look after the doctor, there's me thinking we've seen the last of him and now I am stuck with him. The aliens or the monsters in this though they looked a little sinister, they reminded me of those brains in jars from the Keys of Marinus.  I don't like the fact it was set in New York because that meant it would have annoying Americans in it. which it did. Tomiwa Edun's acting has to be one of the most dire performances I have ever seen in a Doctor Who episode.  I think for me, I just didn't like this whole idea enough, I didn't like the invasion of earth subplot too much, the humor in it was not to my taste. There was a bit at the end where things just felt to me a bit unsolved because  UNIT come in to close of the main headquarters to the aliens and one of the soldiers turns around to reveal that his head has been cut open.

No, this just wasn't really my kind of story which is a shame because I do love Doctor Who and I feel that the show has lost its way and it doesn't excite me as much anymore as it used to. I don't think much for series 10 either. Things are not looking to good at the moment. I'll give this 2/10.

COMING SOON on DOCTOR WHO : The Sontarans!

Yes! The Sontarans are finally going to appear in the Doctor Who Audio Adventures as an adversary for The Doctor and Pip in "The Hero of Sontar" aiming to be released in the new year.

Not much detail can be given about the story just yet, apart from there is a particular Sontaran who is known for doing this valiant act on behalf of the Sontaran Empire and deemed a hero. The Doctor knows of this Sontaran and what he has done for the Sontaran Empire and how he became known as a hero amongst his comrades. Only that this Sontaran is leading an assassination squad to rid a planet of it's refugees.

I wasn't planning on bringing back the Sontarans, but rather than dismiss the idea entirely I thought, well why not? It would be a nice idea and if I'm stumped for ideas, there was always this idea for a story to fill in the gaps as it were.

This looks to be a good one, and I'm working on writing the script with my writer friend Sam Badminton. So very excited to this come to fruition.

MORTAL KOMBAT XL : CHRISTMAS TOWER - Season's Beatings!

Hey everyone.

I'm here to give you yet another Mortal Kombat update for Christmas. There is a special Christmas themed premium tower called "Seasons Beatings" which is a pun on Seasons Greetings. Where one kombatant takes on eight opponents with a very special Christmas themed modifier. As you progress up the tower, you'll be faced with different modifiers concluding with one final fight with everything all at once to deal with as well as beat your opponent during the match. All the fights are all in the same location and the mode of difficulty progresses as you make your way further up the tower.

This provides an exciting, fun challenge to complete.

The Christmas Tower will be uploaded on Friday 23rd December 2016!

This Friday will be the sort of Christmas bumper pack, before I stop for Christmas break and return in the new year.

Until then, hope you keep enjoying my Mortal Kombat gameplay videos.

Mortal Kombat - CHRISTMAS INVASION 2016

It's Christmas in Earthrealm, however the forces of the Netherrealm have begun an invasion.

Special Forces and Lin Kuei assemble to fight the forces of the Netherrealm and save Christmas.

NETHERREALM INVASION

How it works is the Invasion will consist of a single fight battle against a challenger and a Netherrealm boss. The challenger will take on the boss in a head to head fight. Defeat the boss and the earth will be saved.

INVASION BOSS

Scorpion

Possessed by the forces of evil, Scorpion is Quan Chi's puppet. Enslaved to do his bidding, Quan Chi has upgraded Scorpion's fire power and speed to a much higher advantage. He is now a raging revenant full of anger and fury, you don't want to stand in his way.

So that's who the challenger will be facing for this years Christmas Invasion challenge.

But what exactly is this I hear you ask? Basically, it's not like the other faction invasions that you would normally face in the game. I thought as a bit of fun when coming up with ideas to do something for Christmas for Mortal Kombat to do a sort of mock invasion, but that I mean simply just play five single fight rounds on a higher level of difficulty than I'm used to playing.

This is to just avoid any confusion, for those of you thinking that there's going to be this updated invasion in the game at Christmas. There isn't.

The Invasion boss fight will take the place of the usual Let's Play Mortal Kombat videos that I have done on Friday 23rd December, so mark that in your diaries if you want to as that's when the upload is. This Christmas challenge I have set myself will hopefully be a recurring thing, where they will be an invasion every year from a different threat each year.

This will also finish off my Mortal Kombat videos for 2016. But never fear, Mortal Kombat videos will resume in 2017.

Hope this post has been useful to you. I hope you keep enjoying my gameplay videos.

In the lead up to Christmas...

Christmas is fast approaching. So what is there to do?

Advent begins tomorrow, and with that, the final countdown to Christmas 2016.

So what can you do to get you into the Christmassy mood? Here's my list of suggestions.

1. Listen to Christmas Music - There's nothing more to get you in the mood for Christmas than to listen to timeless Christmas classics. If you're having trouble finding what to listen to visit my YouTube channel : https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCH3q0VVY8pdgzDJi8HC0VTA - There's a playlist of Christmas songs on there to listen to titled "My Christmas Music" on there.

2. Watch Christmas Movies - Sit back and relax, and watch some your favourite Christmas movies. Whether you like The Grinch, The Polar Express, Elf, Arthur Christmas, It's A Wonderful Life or whatever it is. Christmas Movies are there to get you in a fun mood to enjoy over the holidays.

3. Go Christmas Window Shopping - By that I mean, look online and have a scout around for things you might want to buy for a friend or family member, get some ideas on what they might want to get them. Or incidentally, you could look at things you might want to receive as presents. That's one of the things that excites me about Christmas, guessing what I might get and looking over things I've got on my list and wondering I wonder whose got me this, have I got this? You never know, and this one is there to help you if you're really stumped on things to do.

4. Play games - This is a great time of year to get your old board games out from the attic or the cupboard and play them together as a family or with a group of friends. It's interactive and sociable and above all really fun.

5. Go and see a Pantomime - It's Panto season, and there is a great variety of Panto's happening. Perhaps one is just near you? Go and see a good panto with good celebrities in it, and hopefully not too pricey either. It's interactive, it's fun for the whole family and it really lifts your spirits up. Good old fashioned entertainment on a night out.

6. Christmas Jumpers - Christmas Jumpers I think capture a great part of Christmas. They're colourful, warm, comfortable and show off the joy of Christmas in their designs. When you wear it, it shows off a fun side of you within the medium of what the holiday is about. That's why I like Christmas jumpers.

7. Putting the Tree up - Putting the tree up and hanging all your decorations. Surely that's got to get you in the mood? It's another one of those interactive parts of Christmas that's not only fun to do but you once it's done it looks really pretty when it's finished.
