PREVIEW : The Secret History of the PiTHONS

CONFIDENTIAL FILES 004: THE SECRET HISTORY OF THE PiTHONS.

NOTE THIS FILE IS CLASSIFIED AND CONFIDENTIAL. ONCE YOU'VE READ THIS THE FILE WILL EXPLODE.

INFORMATION: THE PiTHONS.

Status: An Ancient Alien Race that have been apart of earth's history since the beginning of time. Dating back to the year 540, a time besieged by the army of the celebrated Byzantine general Belisarius. The PiTHONS have become what is termed in the history books as part of 'Greek Mythology' however some historians began to question this and started to think what if ancient greek mythology was in fact true and that these aliens have living amongst us for a very long time. Unlike most aliens they don't wish to invade, their intentions and threat come from their abilities to learn and gather experience and use the knowledge they have collected as a weapon to turn against earth's people in a bid to enable them to distort each other through war.

The Secret History: The French Revolution. (1789 - 1799)

Through the Revolutionary Wars, it unleashed a wave of global conflicts that extended from the Caribbean to the Middle East. Historians widely regard the Revolution as one of the most important events in human history.

If you look closely at how the revolution started you'll notice that due to the events led up beforehand it was almost certain that the crisis in question would happen whether people wanted it to or not. This can lead into what is termed as time glitches, events of which can be made on the decision of somebody or something else. These create distortions in a time field and according to some scientists in later years they have managed to trace time distorted moments or background radiation around the time the french revolution started therefore, there is proof to show that this was not a moment in time that was meant to happen of its own accord.

The PiTHONS feed off time energy in order to revive themselves as a race. They do this by creating distortions in a time field and feeding off the energy of the time that could have been.

HOW TO FIX TIME? - The wars end, earth's people draw things to a peaceful conclusion. By that time the PiTHONS have absorbed all the energy they need and time moves on despite all the casualties and bloodshed that has happened.

No one knows where there PiTHONS originated from, but one fact to bare in mind is they are thirsty and they won't cause destruction of their own accord. They will let others do it for them.

DOCTOR WHO : An Introduction to The Revelations of History

SYNOPSIS: The TARDIS brings the Doctor and Pip to the battleground of the First World War and trench warfare. Caught up in a chain of unfortunate events, Pip poses as a nurse and attends the wounds of fallen soldiers and The Doctor impersonates a governing officer from the war office. However something is very wrong, as events collide in on themselves as the time travellers soon find out when they cross time paths and end up at the battle of waterloo and again in the middle of the French revolution

Crossing time is the least of the Doctor's problems because he knows that he shouldn't be mixed up in these particular events at all.  Someone or something has sabotaged his own personal timeline, putting him and in the place of his Third incarnation. but who, what and why? The truth is about to be revealed but at what cost to all of the Doctors, and to the whole future history of the planet Earth?

NOTES: To start off with when coming up with ideas for episode four the original idea as a briefing was The Doctor and Pip find themselves in palatial gardens of an emperor warrior king where nothing is ever quite what it seems. I approached a number of writers, these including Oliver Eaton, Richard Walkins, James Norman and Joe Hackman. Writing Doctor Who has its own problems anyway, it's a show in which it can be anything you want it to be. It can be a soap opera, or a drama, or a slapstick comedy but what happened was the writers buckled under the pressure. Oliver Eaton couldn't do it. Richard Walkins turned it down, James and Joe weren't up to it. So I started looking for other writers and I ended up writing with Jessica Charlton. She won't mind me saying this but she's a safe bet. She is the safe option and I usually don't resort to the safest option until the very last minute.

We changed the idea, came up with the concept of the World War One crisis but the problem there was we didn't have enough story in the World War One plot to last 20 - 30 minutes. It would have made a nice short story but we needed something else, so we worked other famous moments in history into it. So The Battle of Waterloo where Napoleon surrendered, and the French Revolution and there we had invented a time crisis. I also wanted to make reference to the fact that what if someone or something took the doctor out of his own personal time stream and put a later version of him in his place. Then once that came into fruition, the whole story came into fruition.  - Daniel Bury, 30th of January 2016.

The process started back in September 2015, I heard that Dan was doing more Doctor Who, and after having a pleasant experience writing for him for the first series it was only in my natural interest to accept his offer of doing more doctor who. I want to be a writer for TV when I grow up and this'll be good for my CV if I have as much writing credit to my name as possible. I'm not really a Doctor Who fan. I don't watch the show. However I don't have to be a big fan in order to create a sci-fi concepts like the crossing of the time scales. I don't have to know the character's in depth I just have to write a consistent story that makes sense and overall come up with something which people can enjoy. If people like that then I've done a good job. - Jessica Charlton, 30th of January 2016.

Top Five Best Dalek moments.

The Daleks! The Doctor's worst enemy and the most successful villains in Doctor Who's long 52 year history. I thought I'd countdown through 5 of some of the best Dalek moments. See if you agree or disagree with my choices.

Number 5 : "Dalek" 2005 - "You would make a good Dalek."

I've always liked this scene on the basis of the fact of what it stands for and how it stands out. How The Doctor's attitude is just like 'Oh you have no point of existing why don't you just go and kill yourself'. and the Dalek just says to him 'you know what, you're actually just like me aren't you?' and that is the worst thing to be told by something you hate.

Number 4:  "Genesis of the Daleks" 1975 - The Daleks exterminate Davros.

This is a turning point, right at the end of the story where Davros believes he holds all the cards and then everything is flipped on its side and he is completely surprised that his own creations turn on him and you just think 'woah, I didn't see that coming' and since Davros isn't a Dalek, as soon as they believe they can manage without their creator... they killed him.

[Couldn't find the original clip, so here is a re-creation animation]

Number 3: "The Evil of the Daleks" 1967 - "I will not be your slave".

The Daleks are force of power which is not be reckoned with, as The Second Doctor is about to find out. I always liked the premise of 'Evil of the Daleks' and it really goes to show the calculation and planning and experimentation in daleks to try new things and how cataphoric it would be if that plan succeeded. It makes the imagination real with the possibilities.

Number 2: "Remembrance of the Daleks" 1988 - Dalek Civil War .

It was Doctor Who's 25th Anniversary. John Nathan Turner the Producer had said and I quote "I want the series to start with a bang" and what better way to do that then have your favourite enemies try to destroy each other. The Dalek civil war thing is something that has been going on throughout the 80's period. I love Remembrance so much. It's f**king awesome! All the visual effects and explosions are incredible and you watch this scene and you'll understand why.

Number 1: "Remembrance of the Daleks" 1988 - The Special Weapons Dalek.

The Special Weapons Dalek, its the only Dalek in the history of the show that doesn't speak. But it doesn't need to in order to show off a dramatic impact. It just has to appear and blow stuff up in order to show of the sheer might and power it has. Its a big powerful, tank of a Dalek and the weaponry and power of it is just amazing. Watch it make a dramatic entrance.

That concludes our countdown of the best Dalek moments. Do you agree?

RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE DALEKS

The planet Spiridon. Home planet of the Spiridons. Buried beneath a depth of molten ice a dalek signal has been transmitting to the dalek invasion fleet up in space corresponding to the signal. The Dalek ship arrives to free the army from the ice. In doing so they find something more interesting - the brain of the planet which controls everything. The vegetation on Spiridon turned hostile due it being under threat. It destroyed the Daleks at the cost of the brain getting destroyed too.

ATTACK THE DALEKS

Orbis, is one of the most visited planets on tour guide galactica. A desolate rock, with two suns orbiting around out in a simultaneous sequence. The suns energy is absorbed into the soil and soaks up power like a sponge soaks up water in order to revive itself. It does however drain energy from passing spaceships and causes them to crash land onto the planet. Which is exactly what happens to the TARDIS. Not just the TARDIS but the tour guide shuttle craft as well, and another unidentified flying object containing a small group of six scout daleks sent to observe the planet. Everyone's all equal and all in the same boat. Everyone has to work together to find the sauce of the trouble and come up with a reasonable solution. otherwise it might be too late.

DOCTOR WHO : Introduction to Attack the Daleks

DOCTOR WHO - THE AUDIO ADVENTURES
SERIES 2 EPISODE 3 "ATTACK THE DALEKS"
OUT IN JANUARY

SYNOPSIS: A power failure in the TARDIS draws it off course, and the Doctor and Pip end up stranded on a bleak planet with no name. They soon meet members of a tourist expedition in a similar situation. The tourists have lost their way and team up with the Doctor and Pip to find a way of what's draining their power and avoid some other unexpected visitors - the Doctor's oldest enemies, The Daleks.

NOTES: The first time I saw Death to the Daleks was in 2008. I can remember watching it and thinking "this a bloody good story" and it shows the daleks in a new light and gives the daleks something different to do in that being they have to work with human beings because their guns don't work. I took inspiration from "Death to the Daleks" and applied it into this story. I just wanted to show off the daleks being quite pathetic and getting their arses kicked
its quite entertaining to bring their status down really low for a change and not have them as these dominating terrorists. In no way did we set out to copy "Death to the Daleks" we just wanted to bring every character down to the same level and not have a whole "fear the daleks" kind of thing because people can get quite sick and tired of that.

I wanted to have everybody stranded on a distant planet, with no food or water. Have them feel there is no hope at all. Give the inhabitants of the planet an advantage against the invaders or the visitors to the planet. There's some interesting and entertaining dynamics which have never been tried before in my doctor who's so Attack the Daleks is going to be something new for everyone, taking inspiration from one of the best dalek stories there's ever been.

DOCTOR WHO : An Introduction to The Knight from Crusadia

DOCTOR WHO - THE AUDIO ADVENTURES
SERIES 2 EPISODE 2 "THE KNIGHT FROM CRUSADIA"
OUT IN JANUARY

SYNOPSIS: The King's Champion is the finest swordsman in the land. No one can stand in his way of protecting his king and kingdom's people from threat. That is or course when two passing time travellers come along stuck in the 14th century. The Doctor is challenged to take on the king's champion which is actually a robot warrior from the planet Crusadia in a duel, and Pip is taken hostage by the king. The Doctor must defeat the robot, save his friend, and lead the village people to stand up to their king and take back their land and save the day! All in a day's work? It's not as easy as you'd think.

NOTES: This sort of idea for a story was always on my to do list from the word 'go' it was just finding an appropriate place to fit it in. I approached Jamie Harrison and asked him if he wanted to write it with me and he said yes. The idea I had in mind was having a robot knight which had a sword fight with The Doctor, that was all I had to go on. Me and Jamie came up with the idea based around the original outline of this robot Knight. We decided that this Robot would be the product of an alien species that were trying to live amongst earth's people and rule over a very powerful kingdom and terrorise the community and the robot was their instrument of terror if you like. No sword or arrow or blow to the head can damage it. At least nothing that was available at the time of the middle ages and seeing as this was a robot from another planet the technology that was available to it was highly more advanced than the middle ages. So its a completely unfair contest but its what makes it fun.

In the history of Doctor Who, especially back in the 60's you got the story where The Doctor and Co land on a planet. They meet some rebels, help them to beat they're aggressors and then fly off again. This is exactly what this story is. It was a sort of tribute to the kind of way in which stories operated at that time. It's something you see in Doctor Who today so I was very keen for my classic roots to come out in this audio adventure series. The rebels being the villagers of the kingdom who hide away because they have no means of rebellion or any weapons to fight the aggressors who are in this instance more advanced than they are therefore making it an unfair competition. The aggressors being the  Robot from Crusadia and its master 'The King' and there's more to him than meets the eye.

We also thought we'd work on The Doctor and Pip's relationship. Because Pip at this point has not long been travelling in the TARDIS. We've been so used to Kara that having a new girl on the scene is quite strange and new and refreshing and therefore we have to start that whole cycle of introduction all over again, but in a completely different way to the way it was done with Kara because Pip is a completely different character. So there are some nice scenes between The Doctor and Pip in this story to pick up on and gradually Pip comes to find that actually she quite likes time travelling and for the doctor she finds she likes even more, so yes, its a little heartwarming.
