COMING SOON From DANBURY Productions
DOCTOR WHO - The Seeds of Destruction
OUT IN APRIL!
Synopsis
The Doctor, John and Jillian visit
Earth's environmentally disastrous mid-21st century where mankind
has evolved and products have become more technologically advanced as time has
passed.
So much to the extent that in the wrong
hands, such technology could be used as a weapon to destroy mankind. When
aliens from Mars invade the base and the system breaks down that is precisely
what happens, Moon base control have to take drastic measures to defend themselves
and Earth from the Martian Invaders.
The Martian’s plan is to use the
transmat systems to export deadly seed bombs down to earth to disperse a poisonous
gas on planet, can the Doctor with the help of the Moon base crew and his two
friends stop the invaders plan before the human race is doomed to extinction?
Writer's Notes
The typical storyline which set up the
Patrick Troughton era is the ‘base under siege’ it’s the same story most weeks.
It began really with ‘The Tenth Planet’, which is Hartnell’s final story, and
it saw The Second Doctor and companions become under threat by an alien menace
where the advantages were more in the alien menace’s favor because the hero’s
are stuck in a condensed space, its claustrophobic, you can’t get away, your
trapped and by the way you’re under attack by monsters who want to kill you. It
sets the thrill of the episode up to 11. Stories like that work very well
indeed.
As well as that I wanted to also address
the state of the underlined concept of time being in
flux, with the Doctor choosing to take a step back and leaving the
future in the hands of his human
company, a choice that would lead to a divide between the Doctor and his
friends.
To do this was simple, as I knew I had a
story. I had Ice Warriors and I just combined and recycled ideas around so
everything coagulated well within a four-episode structure. I for one am happy
with the result.
